Looping over the loop and going over it again and again
The game involves a back and forth of sending a ball and moving the miniatures and attempting to explain this process in such a way that it is both succinct and which creates both a sense of control for the player and results in a balanced approach to choices made by each player. in iterating over this process I explored the idea of budling a table that broke down the order of operations which had replaced a series of bullet pointed steps. You can see this below.
However what was obvious in this process was that I had created a more complex example of what I was trying to acheive. Essentially the statement was only concerned with “is the ball on your side of the net” at which point it came down to choosing at what point you would resolve the serve/volley card. As you do not want to allow the opposition team to be “tipped” off to the card in play, though now I type this I think maybe a magic element can be in play here to allow the team to choose when to sneak. I might decide to use the Joker in this case to act as a token played against a moment of magic. However what I returned to was the more simple level of bullet point exposition of follow these steps then return into the loop.
Have I solved the question as to how and when the ball moves between players, I dont think so but I want to come back to that and see if its clear and for that I need other people to play the game for me.
